On May 18, 2017, China Huaxin Post & Telecommunication Economy Development Center ("China Huaxin") and Nokia signed the definitive agreements under which both parties agreed to restructure Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co. Ltd. ("Shanghai Bell") and combine Nokia's China business with Shanghai Bell. The new joint venture Nokia Shanghai Bell (NSB) will become Nokia's exclusive platform in China for the continued development of new technologies in areas like IP routing, optical network, fixed network and next-generation 5G. In the meantime, with the support of Nokia, NSB will continue to explore opportunities in expanding overseas markets.
