Michael Weng is a partner of our Shanghai Office. He specializes in foreign direct investment into China, cross-border merger and acquisitions (including representing Chinese companies “going global”), and corporate compliance.
Michael regularly represents multinational companies in major cross-border transactions and advises them on their investments for a wide range of sectors, including aerospace, automobile, energy, semiconductor, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, foods, retail, manufacturing and logistics. His recent experience includes representing leading companies on their various cross-border acquisitions in Australia, Germany and India.
Michael is also experienced in compliance works for multinational companies and Chinese companies in China. He has successfully represented clients in various government investigations and charges, including FCPA related investigations works.
Before joining Global Law Office, Michael has several years of in-house legal counsel experiences, including worked as China deputy general counsel for a French auto parts company, overseeing the daily legal and compliance works for over 20 legal entities in China. Michael had also worked for an international law firm in its Shanghai and Hong Kong offices for eight years.
Michael passed the PRC State Bar Exam in 1998. Michael is admitted to New York State Bar.
Michael graduated from Jilin University of China Law School, earning his LL.B and LL.M. He also obtained his second LL.M from Columbia University School of Law in New York.
