On June 26, 2025, a special event of Reconfiguring Compliance in a Changing Global Landscape by the London Stock Exchange Group ("LSEG") was held successfully in Shanghai. Dr. Kevin Wang of Global Law Office was invited to participate in this event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of World-Check by LSEG Risk Intelligence. This event brought together experts in the compliance field, executives of MNCs and heads of risk control business to analyze compliance risks for financial institutions and MNCs and to share cutting-edge strategic insights and practical experience.
The China-US trade war is a complex and evolving issue that involves confrontations in multiple areas and at different levels. The tension has severely impacted the international business operations of MNCs and individuals through a variety of legal means, including tariffs, export control and sanctions, covering a wide range of areas. China has responded with countermeasures, and the trade relation between the two jurisdictions has been very tense. Although China and U.S. have reached short-term agreements in some areas, overall the trade war has not eased significantly and continues to escalate. The conflict between the “going abroad” strategy of Chinese enterprises and the rules of international trade is becoming more and more acute. People should be alert to huge risks of supply chain disruption, investment failure and even criminal liabilities due to "blind spot" and "conflict of rules", which puts forward higher requirements for trade compliance.
Dr. Wang participated in a dialogue on "Experience Sharing: the Road to Breakthrough under Dual Regulation: A Comprehensive View of Trade Compliance Risks between China and US and Responses", and discussed the strategic planning and compliance practices of MNCs to cope with the regulatory challenges under dynamic geopolitics. In particular, he shared his insights and thoughts on how MNCs can leverage the World-Check risk intelligence data and risk monitor tools to enhance compliance efficiency and have strategic plans ahead of those conflicts and confrontations.
